Happy Wednesday!
While there's no public news for this coming weekend, I do have an exciting update to share today:
Announcing a new extra section to all this.
There will be an additional section coming soon marking a genuine new departure from my usual emphasis on both music and the written word. I'm not sure what to call it yet, but it's for audio-only readings out loud of some of my writings and notes. If that doesn't appeal to you, no worries! All the old Free stuff will remain the same, and you'll get all the newsletters, chat, music and writings delivered to your email inbox as they are sent out as normal, usually on Wednesdays and Sundays.
The extra section of audio readings will go out at least once a month as they are produced. I simply don't know yet how much work it will involve for me, but I'll be doing it anyway even if nobody at all subscribes.
I've chosen a special date to launch this new section: February 29th, a leap year day and also my half-birthday, which I am allowed to celebrate only once every four years!
For those of you from the wonderful group of people who have maintained an annual subscription to my Bandcamp music store, I'm including this new section of audio files as a complimentary gift, as a token of my appreciation. I think I can set that up by myself after the 29th, but if you want to use a different email address or something please contact me and I'll sort it out.
For everyone else, you can either do nothing and continue receiving the free newsletters, or subscribe for less than the cost of a beer or coffee every month to get the audio readings and some other extra stuff, or just because you want to support my continued output for the good of everyone, or you can save a lot of admin charges this end and save a bit for yourself by buying the low cost annual subscription.
I'm going to start off by reading the four episodes of the Paris story. Some people like to listen to a friendly voice, others prefer to read silently. That's entirely up to yourself and your preferences. I've tried it out and it's a bit like a talking book. Slightly more expressive than just reading out loud, but less so than stage acting. So this is going to help me to get started with preparing for the One Man Show at the same time, in terms of identifying which bits work and might be included in the rewrite into dramatic form.
And that's all I want to say about it for now really, this is just advance warning that something is going to be switched on in eight days time, but you don't have to do anything about yet, or at all if you don't want to join in.
March 22nd - Newport
Ah, but I’ve just realised there is some other exciting news to share, come to think about it. I have tentatively booked the yellow room at MusicCraft in Newport, where we had the “12 Strings of Christmas” and the other CD launches. It’s for a private preview of the new Boulevard Days CD and some excerpts from the evolving show as well the songs and maybe some others if we have time. These are always enjoyable gatherings with a cider break and other refreshments provided. So that's from 7pm on Friday March 22nd at 8 High Street, Newport, Isle Of Wight, PO30 1BQ.
There's very limited spaces for that so please let me know ASAP if you would like an invite. And if anybody would like to help with capturing some video footage of this for me, please put your hand up!
March 10th
My next pub gig is on Sunday March 10th at the Wheatsheaf in Yarmouth at the special time of 12.30pm until 2.30pm. I hope to see some friendly faces there.
Bye for now,
Andy
