Wow, well it’s all over now.
What a fantastic time I’ve had performing my first ever solo theatre show, 'Boulevard Days', for a three day run as part of the annual Ventnor Fringe Festival.
Thank you so much to everyone who came along during the week, old friends and new, for taking a chance on something described as “A Play with Songs”.
Now that you’ve seen it, all the people who didn’t get the chance might be interested to hear what you think it actually is.
An unfortunate downside to being part of a wider festival is that you have to hurry out at the end to make way for the next events. That means I didn’t get much of a chance to provide a leisurely “meet the cast” experience, but we did hear a lot of wonderful positive comments after each of the performances so thankyou for those, and for the CD sales and signups - to those of you I managed to get your written email address transcribed correctly: -
Welcome to the Newsletter!
I keep up a regular weekly publishing schedule during the long winter months but in the summer it tends to become a little more sporadic. The hosting site is substack, which means that it’s an email list/newsletter and also a website/blog with archives, links, video podcasts and the like.
You can always read most of the writings which were distilled down to go into the show by starting here:
There’s also a page called ‘albums’ which links to Bandcamp, where my music is hosted and you may be interested in hearing the original old versions of some of the songs as recorded for posterity 44 years ago when I had a spare hour or two.
Call for Responses, Impact etc
I don't know if anybody took some photos but feel free to share any you have please, regardless of initial quality.
We do need a few reviews or testimonials in order to take the show any further forward so all contributions will be very gratefully received.
Thanks
Thanks to Tim Martin for the stage and lighting tech, and to Linda for all her support and big help over a long period of preparation.
I learned such a lot by performing three slightly different versions of my own story in front of such engaged audiences, so there's plenty to think about for a couple of days, and then onwards.
Wishing every success to all the shows on today and for the last weekend in Ventnor this year. I wonder what next year will bring.
August Gig List
